STEAMING TECHNIQUES

Soothing, vasodilating and anti-inflammatory are the steam techniques' greatest advantages, enhancing Chaves Thermal Water properties in the best way.

Bertholet
Bertholet

It involves applying thermal steam and heat, which can be directed at the entire spine or some segments.

Bertholaix
Bertholaix

This 15-minute treatment is based on the application of thermal steam, through a stream of hot air and provides an effect of well-being and relaxation. During this technique, the patient should be sitting so that the stream covers his shoulders, hips and spine.

TURKISH BATH
TURKISH BATH

The steam technique, in which the atmosphere is saturated with thermal water vapour, is beneficial as it removes toxins, relaxes and clears airways.

With a maximum temperature of 40ºC to 45ºC, the Turkish Bath lasts 20 minutes.

Sauna
Sauna

The Sauna reduces the risks of heart and lung diseases. The treatment consists of alternating a warm-up and a cool-down phase. The technique lasts 20 minutes and can optionally be stopped after 10 minutes for a cold water shower.

BERTHOLET HANDS / BERTHOLET FEET
BERTHOLET HANDS / BERTHOLET FEET

The benefits of Thermal Water are enhanced through the Bertholet Hands and Feet technique. It consists of applying steam and thermal jets on the body's extremities: feet and hands.

SHOWER TECHNIQUES

Shower techniques provide a calming or stimulating effect depending on the temperature and pressure applied. This technique involves a pressurised water jet directed at the client’s body.

MASSAGE SHOWER
MASSAGE SHOWER

Calmness, muscle relaxation and a deep and stimulating tonic effect are the benefits of the Massage Shower. The technique combines massages and abundant jets of Thermal Water, in which the hydrotherapist uses the force of water in movement on the patient's body, using all the active principles of this element.

JET SHOWER
JET SHOWER

As the name suggests, the Jet Shower projects one or more jets of Mineral-Medical Water. Temperature and pressure may vary.

CIRCULAR SHOWER
CIRCULAR SHOWER

It activates blood circulation by applying Thermal Water at low pressure, allowing the water to exit through perforated tubes arranged in a circle. The result is a head-to-toe massage effect.

UNDERWATER SHOWER
UNDERWATER SHOWER

The thermal treatment consists of a massage in a bath through an underwater jet of Mineral Medicinal Water under pressure. The massage covers the body's joints and has a relaxing effect.

HYDROPRESSOTHERAPY
HYDROPRESSOTHERAPY

Hydropressotherapy consists of applying dozens of micro jets of Thermal Water distributed all over the body at variable temperatures and periods. This technique has an invigorating and relaxing effect.

STEAM ROOM
STEAM ROOM

The projecting of Thermal Water steam for 10 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of punctual hot water jets, launched by small needle-like sieves, provides physical, psychological, and emotional improvements.

INHALATION THERAPY TECHNIQUES

Using Thermal Water in particles, gas, vapour, or aerosol helps to improve the respiratory and hearing system. Eliminating secretions and treating respiratory tract infections are the primary purposes of ENT/respiratory tract techniques.

NASAL IRRIGATION
NASAL IRRIGATION

The technique uses the benefits of Chaves Thermal Water, as water is poured into one nostril, runs through the nasal passages and drains out of the other nostril due to the pressure of gravity.

PULVERIZATION
PULVERIZATION

This technique benefits from our water's unique characteristics and consists of inhaling steam and Thermal Water over the upper respiratory tract, such as the pharynx, throat and tonsils.

NEBULIZATION
NEBULIZATION

This technique consists of inhaling steam, vapours and water particles through the nose and mouth with the help of an individual mask.

SONIC AEROSOL
SONIC AEROSOL

The sonic aerosol technique involves inhaling thin vapour particles through specialized equipment. Our Water is, therefore, crucial to improving the respiratory tract.

PHYSIOTHERAPY / ELECTROTHERAPY

Termas de Chaves combines the Thermal Water potential with treatments and equipment, such as physiotherapy and electrotherapy. The treatment can be combined with hydro-balneotherapy therapies to achieve the patient's functional recovery.

MASSAGES (FULL-BODY AND PARTIAL MASSAGES)

The massage's purpose is to relieve pain, improve circulation and reduce tension. It is an effective technique for physical and psychological rebalancing. To reach a state of harmony, the patient may need a full body or partial massage. The massage is directed at the whole body, whereas the partial massage consists of specific movements in more restricted areas.
