Chaves is located in the region called Trás-os-Montes which offers an unparalleled range of delicacies.

The delights of Chaves cuisine start with the famous Pastel de Chaves: salty, light and with veal from the region. Then, we have smokehouses, excellent for snacking but also used in the Arroz de Fumeiro (rice) which is creamy and dipped in vegetables from the region. They go through tradition, with the Folar de Chaves and the Ham, and are served with a Trás-os-Montes strong and structured red wine that reminds us of the freshness of the mountains surrounding the city of Chaves.

If your mouth is watering, keep in mind that you can't miss the Smokehouse Festival Days in February and the Feira dos Santos in late October, early November.

The explosion of flavors is guaranteed. Don’t forget to try the traditional Trás-os-Montes dishes that Chaves has to offer.
